The SEA/SEA International Performance Art Forum is an international gathering of performance artists from Southeast Asia and the Southeast Adriatic and Ionoan Sea regions, held from 11–12 September 2026 in Venice, Italy.
Developed by curator and art historian Thomas Berghuis, maritime historian and curator Andrea Bonifacio, and artist Moe Satt, SEA/SEA Forum brings artists, cultural practitioners, and the public together through contemporary performance art, creating a space for experimentation, dialogue, and new artistic connections.
Presented by Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, founded alongside the Venice Biennale in 1898, SEA/SEA Forum is conceived with the people and communities of Venice in mind and as a platform from which future editions and collaborations can develop.

The waters between us
How do seas, oceans, rivers and lakes connect regions, histories and communities? How do they shape movement, borders, ecology, cultural exchange and shared challenges?
Performance art as practice and action
How does performance art work through embodied action in real time and space? How do gesture, duration, participation, spoken interaction, moving image, digital and analogue media, objects, materials, site, light, water, sound, silence and listening shape the experience of performance?
Sustaining performance-art platforms
How do we create and sustain the conditions that live performance requires? What roles do trust, care, mobility, funding, institutions, local networks and collaboration play?
Looking forward
How can the relationships created through SEA/SEA continue beyond Venice? How might future exchanges connect artists and practices through IFPA, Art Kontakt, ComLab, Southeast Asian networks and other initiatives?
